QED — Quality Electronic Design — was founded in 1973 in the UK by Bob Abraham and Ian Vine, built on a philosophy that was genuinely radical at the time: that cables deserved the same serious engineering attention as the amplifiers and speakers they connected. In an era when most listeners saw wire as an afterthought, QED set out to prove that thoughtful cable design could measurably change how a system sounded.

That conviction produced the landmark 79 Strand cable in the mid-1970s, widely recognised as the world's first specialist loudspeaker cable and a genuine turning point in how the industry thought about connectivity. QED has continued building on that foundation ever since, applying rigorous measurement protocols and computer-aided design techniques across speaker cables, interconnects, and digital cables, including the acclaimed Genesis and XT ranges.
