Mini LED TVs
Why Choose a Mini LED TV?
Mini LED televisions use backlights made up of thousands of individual LEDs, rather than the handful of larger LEDs found in conventional LED TVs. This dramatically increases the number of local dimming zones, allowing the TV to brighten and darken very specific areas of the screen independently. The practical benefit is deeper, more precise contrast - bright highlights stay punchy while nearby dark areas remain properly black, with far less of the halo or blooming effect seen on older backlit TVs.
Because Mini LED still relies on an LED backlight rather than self-lit pixels, these TVs can also achieve very high peak brightness levels, often exceeding OLED panels. This makes Mini LED TVs an excellent choice for bright rooms and for HDR content, where intense highlights make a real difference to the sense of depth and realism in a scene.
Mini LED sits at the premium end of LED-backlit technology, often paired with quantum dot colour (as in QNED and premium QLED models) to deliver some of the best all-round picture quality available outside of OLED, with the added benefit of higher brightness for daytime viewing.
