A Stable Foundation: The plinth comprises two layers of MDF bonded with a special permanently elastic adhesive, creating constrained-layer damping. This construction converts vibrational energy into heat rather than transferring it to the cartridge. Building on the success of the PLATINUM series — PLATINUM, PLATINUM SE and PLATINUM Automatic EAS — sonoro has redefined the pleasure of vinyl while remaining true to its German Audio Design commitment. Working closely with Karl-Heinz Fink, whose name is synonymous with exceptional sound quality across every price range, sonoro has created the PLATINUM Signature to deliver an authentic and immediate listening experience.
Focused on the Essentials
That is the simplest way to describe the PLATINUM Signature, although ‘the essentials’ means neither basic nor plain. The latest model in sonoro's PLATINUM series has been redesigned across every key component and fine-tuned with meticulous attention to detail. Features include a low-capacitance tonearm cable rated at less than 100 pF; a bespoke rubber-and-felt mat whose felt side fits precisely into the platter recess; a Delrin bearing; and a motor control system that uses a sensor to monitor and continuously adjust the speed. Together, these refinements make a significant difference.
Unpack, Set Up and Listen
The Ortofon 2M Red is factory-fitted and adjusted, and a tonearm cable and alignment template are included. If a different cartridge is fitted later, the turntable provides everything required: a headshell with an SME mount and built-in overhang markings, together with a counterweight that balances a wide range of cartridges.
Pure Analogue Sound
The PLATINUM Signature is designed to reproduce vinyl records exactly as they are. To achieve this, sonoro has deliberately omitted features that may suit other listening applications but are not essential to this purpose. The electronics have been reduced to the essentials and engineered specifically for pure analogue playback: no Bluetooth, automatic lift, end-of-record switch-off or phono preamplifier. The PLATINUM Signature passes on the signal exactly as the stylus retrieves it, so the connected amplifier requires a phono input. When paired with the True Fidelity mode of sonoro's MAESTRO Quantum Signature in particular, it creates an unadulterated listening experience for vinyl and Hi-Fi enthusiasts alike.
Next-Level Hi-Fi
In collaboration with industry experts Rainer Finck and Karl-Heinz Fink, sonoro has developed the Signature Line. Alongside the PLATINUM Signature, the range includes the MAESTRO Quantum Signature, ORCHESTRA Slim Signature compact speakers and ORCHESTRA Shaped Signature floorstanding speakers.
