Innuos

Innuos began in London in 2009, not as a company but as a hobby — Nuno Vitorino, a Portuguese computer science engineer, spent his evenings assembling his own home music streaming platform from off-the-shelf parts at the dining table, while pursuing a corporate career alongside his partner and future co-founder, Amelia Santos. What started as personal tinkering quickly evolved into custom-designed hardware, and by 2013 Nuno and Amelia had sold around 200 hand-built units on eBay — enough to convince them a genuine business was possible.

That same year, the couple returned home to Portugal, setting up first in the garage of a family holiday home in the Algarve before eventually settling in Faro, where Innuos remains headquartered today. The company officially adopted its name — short for Innovation throUgh Open Systems — in 2014, and formally launched the Innuos brand with the acclaimed ZEN MkII series in 2016, a moment that established the company's reputation for minimalist design and genuinely high-quality digital audio.

Now operating from a purpose-built, 1,000-square-metre facility in Faro with a team of nearly 50 people from over 10 nationalities, plus offices in the UK and US, Innuos designs and builds nearly everything in-house — custom electronics, power supplies, and its own proprietary innuOS software. Guided by a simple mission, "unleashing the magic in music," the company has earned more than 100 press awards for products like the flagship Nazaré streamer and PhoenixNET network switch — proof that a hobby built at a dining table can grow into one of digital audio's most respected names.
