Sanus was founded in 1986 in Minnesota, launching as Sanus Systems with a clear and specific mission: build the first genuinely audiophile-grade speaker stands for AV enthusiasts. Over its first 15 years, the company grew into a leader in AV furniture and speaker stands for the residential market, earning a reputation for engineering that took equipment support as seriously as the equipment itself.

That reputation set Sanus up for a defining moment in 2002, when the company introduced the first universal wall mount for flat-panel televisions — a genuine turning point that arrived just as flat-screen TVs were beginning to transform living rooms worldwide, and one that drove significant growth and expansion for the brand. Sanus merged with fellow mounting specialist Chief Manufacturing in 2004, and the combined companies now operate under Milestone AV Technologies alongside Da-Lite Screen Company.

Today Sanus offers more than 300 home theatre units, TV and audio stands, mounts, speaker supports, and equipment racks, sold in thousands of retail locations across the US, Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, and Asia. Backed by a portfolio of over 140 patents, Sanus remains one of the most recognisable names in AV furniture — proof that thoughtful engineering, even for something as simple as a wall mount, can define an entire product category.
