TCI (True Colours Industry)

TCI — True Colours Industries — is a British cable specialist founded in 1997 by engineers Andrew Stacey and John Payne, whose research and development work together actually began more than a decade earlier, in the mid-1980s. That long gestation gave TCI an unusually mature starting point, built around a genuinely distinctive idea: applying aerospace-grade materials and engineering principles to hi-fi cable design, a category the pair felt hadn't been given the rigorous attention it deserved.

TCI's debut product, the Cobra speaker cable, was originally designed in 1993 and, though refined over the decades, remains true to its original engineering — a genuine testament to how well the founders got it right the first time. The company designs its cables, connectors, and plugs entirely in-house, including its own True-Plug range using materials like gold-plated beryllium copper and rhodium-plated mains connectors, applying a consistent top-down philosophy across the range: neutrality, holographic imaging, and musicality without unwanted colouration.

Still manufacturing at its base in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, TCI has spent over 25 years building a genuinely loyal following among British audiophiles who value transparent, engineering-led cable design — proof that great cables, like great components, reward patience and precision.
