WiiM
WiiM
WiiM was launched in late 2021 by Linkplay Technology, a company founded in 2014 by a team of engineers with backgrounds at Google, Broadcom, InterVideo, and Harman. For years before WiiM existed as its own brand, Linkplay operated behind the scenes, developing the wireless streaming technology, software, and hardware that powered millions of connected audio products for major names including Harman, JBL, Yamaha, Marshall, Edifier, and Audio Pro.
That deep, hands-on OEM experience gave WiiM an unusually mature starting point for a young consumer brand. Rather than simply launching another speaker, WiiM set out with a clear, focused mission: bring premium, high-resolution multi-room streaming to systems people already owned, at a genuinely accessible price. The debut WiiM Mini was followed by the Pro, Pro Plus, and the versatile WiiM Amp — a Class D integrated streaming amplifier — alongside the touchscreen-equipped WiiM Ultra preamplifier, all supporting AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, and Roon readiness.
Now recognised in the hi-fi press as one of the most compelling value-driven alternatives to more expensive streaming platforms, WiiM continues to apply Linkplay's years of streaming expertise directly to the products music lovers actually buy — proof that a company built on quiet, behind-the-scenes engineering can become a genuinely beloved consumer name in its own right.
