Zidoo was founded in 2014 in Shenzhen, China, as Shenzhen Zidoo Technology Co., Ltd, building on deep expertise in ARM multi-core architecture developed across both industrial and consumer electronics. From the outset, the company set its sights on a clear, focused mission: bring genuinely high-quality home audio-visual equipment to enthusiasts who wanted more than a standard streaming box could offer.

Zidoo's first media player, the X6 Pro, launched in 2015 and quickly won over reviewers, establishing the brand's reputation early on. The company followed with a steady run of well-regarded releases, including the first 4K media player built on Realtek's RTD1295 chip in 2016 and the acclaimed Z9S in 2018, each iteration adding more sophisticated hardware and software. Built around Zidoo's own Home Theatre app and Poster Wall interface, the company's players became known for comprehensive format support, including uncompressed 4K HDR video, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X audio, and Blu-ray menu and 3D playback — genuine home cinema features rarely found together in one device.
