The Mark Levinson № 626 is a dual-monaural preamplifier designed to combine exceptional analogue performance with advanced digital audio processing. At its core is the Pure Path fully discrete, direct-coupled and fully balanced signal path, supported by a discrete balanced R-2R ladder volume control for precise, accurate level adjustment. Two balanced XLR and three single-ended RCA inputs provide flexible analogue connectivity, alongside a dedicated MM/MC phono input.

The № 626 introduces Mark Levinson's Precision Link III DAC, providing sophisticated digital-to-analogue conversion across its digital inputs. At its heart is an ES9039PRO 8-channel Hyperstream IV DAC from ESS Technology, combined with proprietary jitter elimination circuitry and fully balanced, discrete I/V circuitry. Six digital inputs are provided, including AES/EBU, two coaxial, two optical and USB-C, with asynchronous support for high-resolution PCM and DSD audio up to 32-bit/384kHz.

For vinyl enthusiasts, the № 626 incorporates a Pure Phono Class A MM/MC phono preamplifier designed to preserve the detail and dynamics of analogue recordings. A Main Drive Class A headphone amplifier is also integrated for high-quality personal listening. Configurable balanced and single-ended analogue outputs provide flexible system integration, with outputs capable of operating full-range or using a selectable fourth-order 80Hz filter for seamless connection to powered subwoofers.

The № 626 features Mark Levinson's distinctive Tectonic exterior, combining a black anodised aluminium and steel chassis with a silver plinth and glass centre panel illuminated by signature red accent lighting. Internally, the modular architecture separates sensitive analogue and digital circuitry from the power supply, while critical components are mechanically isolated on rubber mounts. An ultra-low-noise toroidal linear power supply, vibration-damping feet, generous ventilation and a full-function handheld remote complete a preamplifier designed and engineered in the USA.
