TS-1
The Versatile Master
Matrix Audio proudly presents the TS-1, a next-generation all-in-one solution for headphone and active monitor enthusiasts. Guided by the philosophy of "simplifying complexity", the TS-1 integrates a streamer, DAC and headphone amplifier into one compact device. Paired with headphones or active speakers, it forms a high-quality Hi-Fi system with minimal setup. Designed for listeners who value convenience without compromising on sound quality, the TS-1 brings essential audio functions together in one versatile solution.
Choose Your Aesthetic
Available in Titanium Silver or Obsidian Black, the TS-1 offers a choice of finishes to suit different tastes and listening environments.
Focused on Experience
Built on the Hi-Fi streaming hardware platform from Matrix Audio's M Series, the TS-1 delivers enhanced performance. Its upgraded display, continually evolving MA Player Hi-Fi Streaming OS and MA Remote App provide compatibility with iOS and Android devices. Whether controlled using a smartphone or tablet, the TS-1 offers a smooth and intuitive user experience.
Audio Centre
Designed as an all-scenario audio centre, the TS-1 features five input interfaces: optical, coaxial, USB Audio, HDMI ARC and RCA analogue. This allows it to accommodate a wide range of sources, from living room entertainment and desktop systems to vinyl setups and modern streaming services. Audio sources can be connected to a single device, with input selection available through the IR remote control or MA Remote App.
From Desktop to Living Room
High-quality XLR and RCA analogue outputs make it easy to build an active speaker system. Whether creating a desktop Hi-Fi setup or enhancing living room entertainment, the TS-1 offers a straightforward way to enjoy high-quality sound without the need to match a separate amplifier or manage complex wiring. Two selectable output voltage settings accommodate active speakers with different gain requirements.
Subwoofer Output
The dedicated subwoofer output handles audio frequencies below 150 Hz, with its volume synchronised with the line output. This allows an active subwoofer to be connected to extend the low-frequency response of smaller active speakers. Whether listening to music or watching television, the TS-1 supports a more immersive audio experience and provides greater flexibility for a 2.1-channel setup.
Refined Tuning
The TS-1 features 6.35 mm unbalanced and 4.4 mm balanced headphone outputs, powered by a fully balanced, high-bias discrete headphone amplifier with an output impedance of just 1 ohm. This design supports effective voltage delivery, including with low-impedance, high-sensitivity headphones. Tuned for modern high-resolution headphones, the amplifier preserves high-frequency extension while gently tempering the treble for more comfortable long-term listening. Two selectable output voltage settings allow it to accommodate both low-impedance in-ear monitors and high-impedance full-sized headphones.
Independent Layered Design
The analogue and digital circuits are arranged on separate PCB layers, with the digital section below the analogue section. This layout helps minimise interference between circuits while supporting efficient heat dissipation from the high-bias headphone amplifier. The analogue PCB also features a fully symmetrical left-right design, promoting stable audio signal transmission through the circuit architecture. Together, these design choices support audio performance and overall product reliability.
Fully Balanced DAC
The TS-1 features a fully balanced signal path from digital to analogue, with an AK4493SEQ DAC chip dedicated to each channel and the dual DAC units within each chip operating in parallel. This configuration is designed to enhance dynamic range, revealing finer detail and clearer separation within the music. The power supply sections for the two DAC chips are completely independent, with each chip powered by a dual-channel, ultra-low-noise LDO regulator. This helps each DAC operate under stable conditions for clean, high-fidelity audio reproduction.
Dual Femtosecond Clocks
Two compact, ultra-low-phase-noise femtosecond clocks provide dedicated clock references for 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz sampling rates and their respective multiples. Independent low-noise linear regulators power the clocks, while FPGA-based intelligent control manages frequency division and switching automatically. This design provides a solid foundation for low-jitter digital audio output.
Enjoy Local and Cloud Music
The TS-1 supports NAS drive mounting, allowing users to build a music library directly from network-attached storage. Music stored in cloud services, such as Baidu Netdisk, can also be mounted directly on the device. The MA Remote App makes it convenient to copy music files from NAS and cloud storage to the TS-1's internal storage.
Digital Management
By connecting a USB CD drive and using the MA Remote App, users can convert CD albums into digital audio files and save them to the TS-1's internal storage. This creates digital copies of CD collections, combining the sound quality of CD playback with the flexibility of a digital music library. It also makes music easier to organise and access, while preserving the option to enjoy the familiar experience of physical media.
Shareable Internal Storage
With SMB protocol support, computers on the same network can easily access the TS-1's storage, simplifying music library management. The device can also function as a NAS, allowing other streamers on the network to play stored music seamlessly.
SSD Storage | Fast and Quiet
An NVMe SSD slot on the underside of the TS-1 allows users to expand its internal storage by installing an SSD. A specially designed, ultra-low-noise independent power supply provides a quiet operating environment for the drive.
Flexible Connection Options
For situations where a wired connection is inconvenient, the TS-1's Wi-Fi 6 connectivity offers a convenient alternative. For optimal sound quality and stable performance when streaming high-resolution audio, a wired connection is recommended where practical.
Option for Linear Power
The TS-1 features a dedicated DC power input, allowing users to explore its performance potential with an external linear power supply. When external and AC power are connected simultaneously, the system prioritises the external supply and disconnects the AC power, retaining only the ground connection. The TS-1 also incorporates a power filter and multiple low-noise LDO regulators to supply individual circuit sections independently, helping ensure clean and stable power delivery.
