QED Performance Optical Toslink Fibre-Optic Cable

Options are In Stock

The QED Performance Optical cable transfers digital audio signals using light, helping eliminate electrical interference between connected components. Its low-loss PMMA optical fibre supports audio formats up to 24-bit/192kHz, while a stepped refractive index design helps minimise signal dispersion. Precision-polished Toslink connectors provide reliable connections, and the flexible TPE outer jacket protects the fibre while making installation easier. Designed for dependable everyday use, it offers a practical solution for connecting compatible TVs, DACs and hi-fi equipment.

PERFORMANCE Optical

The Signal Travels as Light. Physics Still Comes Along for the Ride.
One of the advantages of an optical connection is that it transfers information as pulses of light rather than electrical signals. That's great news for avoiding electrical interference. It doesn't mean the cable suddenly becomes irrelevant.

Less Signal Loss. More Signal.
Performance Optical uses a low-loss PMMA optical fibre designed to support the bandwidth required by today's digital audio formats. The objective isn't complicated. Get as much of the original signal from one component to the next as accurately as possible. It's the same principle that underpins every good cable design. Do the least harm possible.

Precision Where You Can't See It
Inside the cable, the optical fibre uses a stepped refractive index design that helps minimise signal dispersion as light travels through the cable. You don't need to remember that. What matters is that it helps keep the signal organised on its journey from source to destination, reducing the opportunity for timing errors that can affect digital performance. Like most good engineering, it's doing its best work where nobody can see it.

Small Details. Big Difference.
The fibre ends are carefully polished before being terminated in precision-engineered Toslink connectors. It's not the sort of feature that looks impressive on a shop shelf. It's the sort of feature that makes an engineer nod approvingly and move on to the next problem. Which is probably a better test.

Built for Real Homes
Hi-fi systems rarely live in laboratory conditions. They're squeezed into TV units, tucked behind cabinets and routed around furniture by people balancing a torch between their teeth. We've all been there. That's why Performance Optical uses a flexible TPE outer jacket that helps protect the fibre while making installation refreshingly straightforward.

PERFORMANCE

Performance is QED's complete connectivity ecosystem, bringing trusted engineering, broad compatibility and long-term reliability to every major connection in your system.

Every Great System is Connected
A modern hi-fi system can combine streaming, vinyl, CD, television and high-resolution digital audio, often across multiple devices and connection types. While the equipment tends to get most of the attention, every system ultimately relies on the connections between its components.

Performance is QED's complete family of analogue and digital cables, designed to help modern systems work together reliably and consistently. Built on more than five decades of specialist cable expertise, it combines proven engineering, long-term reliability and broad compatibility across the connections people use every day.

Where Good Systems Begin
Performance sits at the centre of the QED cable range. Above Connect and below Reference and Signature, it brings together specialist cable knowledge, proven engineering and broad system compatibility in one complete connectivity ecosystem. It's the range we'd recommend to most music lovers building, improving or expanding a system, providing a trusted solution for every major connection without making connectivity a hobby in its own right.

Designed for Real Systems
Most systems evolve over time as new sources, devices and ways of listening are added. Performance was created to simplify those connections with a complete ecosystem of speaker, analogue and digital cables designed to work together across modern hi-fi and AV systems.

Proven Engineering
Every cable in the Performance range is built around technologies developed to solve real-world challenges such as interference, signal loss, timing errors and long-term connection reliability. The aim is simple: help every part of your system perform as it should, so you can spend less time thinking about connectivity and more time enjoying music.

Built on Research
QED's approach to cable design is informed by decades of scientific investigation into how cables affect system performance. The Genesis Report remains one of the most influential pieces of research in QED's history, helping establish an evidence-led approach to cable engineering that continues to inform the products we design today.

A Complete Connectivity Ecosystem
From loudspeakers and source components to streamers, DACs and televisions, Performance provides a trusted solution for every major connection in your system. It's a range designed to make system building simpler, while delivering the confidence that every connection has been properly considered.
