HEDD

HEDD — Heinz Electrodynamic Design — was founded in Berlin in October 2015 by physicist Klaus Heinz and his son, musicologist and mastering engineer Dr. Frederik Knop. It's a genuine family business built on an extraordinary depth of experience: Klaus Heinz has spent five decades studying sound and acoustics, following in the footsteps of his father, Nobel Prize-winning physicist Ernst Ruska, and had already founded several respected speaker companies before HEDD, including ADAM Audio, where he helped pioneer the compact Air Motion Transformer (AMT) driver.

That AMT technology — a transducer design that moves air with exceptional speed and efficiency — sits at the heart of every HEDD product, from the acclaimed MK1 and MK2 studio monitor ranges to the flagship HEDDphone. Since its earliest designs in 2016, HEDD has continued pushing the format forward, developing the industry's first loudspeakers to combine analog monitoring with full Ethernet audio protocol integration, and building deep working relationships with names like Rupert Neve Designs and Native Instruments along the way.

Every HEDD product is still designed and assembled entirely in Berlin, combining Klaus Heinz's decades of engineering expertise with Frederik Knop's musical sensibility. It's a rare pairing — a physicist's precision and a musicologist's ear — working together under one roof to chase complete sonic accuracy.
