T+A

T+A — Theorie und Anwendung, meaning "Theory and Application" in German — was founded in 1978 in Herford, Germany, by physicist Siegfried Amft. Working with limited resources but a bold, scientifically-grounded vision, Amft set out to build genuinely exceptional audio products, starting with loudspeakers before rapidly expanding into electronics as the young company's ambitions grew.

That founding name captures exactly what has defined T+A ever since: a rare combination of rigorous scientific research and hands-on engineering craftsmanship. Still run as a family business, T+A maintains close ties to leading technical universities and conducts virtually all of its research, development, and manufacturing in-house, resulting in genuine world-first achievements like the first music player capable of playing back DSD 1024 files, alongside acclaimed amplifiers, DACs, and loudspeakers spanning the accessible R Series through to the flagship HV range.

Now recognised as Germany's market leader in high-end audio and one of the world's most respected hi-fi marques, T+A continues to build products that blend engineering precision with genuine emotional musicality — proof that Siegfried Amft's original union of theory and application has stood the test of nearly five decades.
